Play-Fi Speakers: How do I check the firmware version(s) of my wireless audio device?

There are two unique pieces of firmware installed on your wireless audio device.

  • Play-Fi firmware: This firmware controls the Play-fi portion of the electronics for the following products:
    • Bravado
    • Cadence
    • Crescendo X
    • Forte
    • Motion Vision X
    • Unison
  • MartinLogan firmware: This firmware controls all other functions of the following products:
    • Bravado
    • Cadence
    • Crescendo
    • Crescendo X
    • Forte
    • Motion Vision X
    • Unison
    • Verse

Play-Fi firmware version (Bravado, Cadence, Crescendo X, Forte, Motion Vision X, and Unison)

  • Make sure your wireless audio device is powered on and connected to your network.
  • Open the Play-Fi app (PC/Android/iOS) and access the setting menu (gear icon). Look for an option called “About”. Depending on the version of the Play-Fi app, you may need to access a submenu which may be labeled something like “More Settings...”.
  • All connected Play-Fi devices will show the Play-Fi firmware number labeled “CAP: “

MartinLogan firmware version (Bravado, Cadence, Crescendo X, Forte, Motion Vision X, Unison, and Verse)

  • Make sure your wireless audio device is powered on and connected to your network.
  • Open the Play-Fi app (PC/Android/iOS) and access the setting menu (gear icon). Look for an option called “About”. Depending on the version of the Play-Fi app, you may need to access a submenu which may be labeled something like “More Settings...”.
  • All connected Play-Fi devices will show the MartinLogan firmware number labeled “MCU: “

MartinLogan firmware version - alternate method (Motion Vision X)

  • Using your soundbar's remote, access the menu and go to "SERVCE> FRMWRE >" [Service > Firmware >].

MartinLogan firmware version - alternate method (Cadence and Verse)

  • Using your soundbar's remote, access the menu and go to "Service> Firmware >MCU"

MartinLogan firmware version (Crescendo)

  • Turning off your computer's Wi-Fi.
  • Attach Crescendo directly to the computer using an Ethernet cable.
  • Turn Crescendo off and on using the Power button on the back of the speaker.
  • It may take additional time for your computer to establish an Ethernet connection with Crescendo. Once established, the Setup and Status LED on back of Crescendo will turn solid green.
  • Open a browser and enter "169.254.1.1" as the URL. 
  • Click the “Firmware Update” button.
  • The MartinLogan firmware version will be labeled: “Current Firmware Version”. The number in the middle is the current version. For example, s9329.21.100 = Firmware revision 21.
